And did you know ?

- TGVs consume three times less energy than cars and five times less than aircraft. A TGV carrying 516 people only needs one kilowatt-hour to cover 5 kilometers, whereas the same amount of energy will only power a car carrying four people for 1.7 kilometers, and an aircraft carrying 300 people for 1.1 kilometers.
-Railway track takes up less space than motorways while offering greater passenger capacity. A motorway has to be 37.5 meters wide whereas the width of a railway track with twice the capacity is only 13.70 meters. The area covered by the entire Paris-Lyon line fits into the area covered by the Charles de Gaulle airport.
-A suburban train has the same capacity as four jumbo jets and as 2,000 motorcars (each having one single occupant).
