ALSTOM TRAINS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

In two showcases along the Champs Elysées, ALSTOM presents the future of rail transport. We continue to innovate, responding to travel requirements in France, Europe and throughout the world for local, regional and international transport, both for passengers and for freight.

The specific demands of regional transport

Reducing travel times and meeting the new requirements of European regional transport - these are the challenges that the innovative CORADIA solution was designed to meet. This range of trains offers passengers a high level of quality, comfort and safety, while providing operators with optimum performance.
The main features of the CORADIA include the choice of electric or diesel traction and of single or double-deck layout, easier access for passengers and flexible configuration, all with high capacity and top-level performance.

In the CORADIA showcase, you'll learn about CORADIA trains for Sweden (CORADIA double-deckers in the Mälardalen region), Denmark (CORADIA LINT in the Jutland region) and France (CORADIA Z TER, in the regions of Aquitaine, Brittany, Centre, Pays de Loire and Poitou-Charentes), the Netherlands (CORADIA LINT, operated by Syntus since June 2000) and Germany (CORADIA L.I.R.EX* concept train, developed in partnership with Deutsche Bahn and rolling in the state of Saxony-Anhalt since December 2002).

The future of the very high-speed train

Throughout its long working relationship with the SNCF, which started with the first TGV, ALSTOM has developed extensive know-how in the field of very high-speed trains, becoming an authority throughout the world from a very early stage.

TGVs currently operate in nine European countries (and meet the requirements for total compatibility between the various rail networks) and will be put into service in South Korea in 2004.

With a range of trains that is ever more innovative, reliable (thanks in particular to the articulated trainset) and modular, ALSTOM currently offers operators two solutions with excellent operating flexibility: the TGV Duplex and the AGV.

The double-deck TGV Duplex is the high-capacity train of the range. In its Jumbo version, it can accommodate up to 1,200 passengers and reach speeds of up to 320 kph. It will be the fastest double-deck train in the world.

The AGV (high-speed automotrice) is a small- to medium-capacity train accommodating 250-450 passengers and travelling at speeds of 300 kph to 350 kph.
