ALSTOM at Le Train Capitale
PARTNERS IN INNOVATION

Four ALSTOM showcases at Le Train Capitale demonstrate ALSTOM's know-how and collaboration with specialist companies. They present recent and future advances in technology, products and services – all initiatives that help to improve our train offer.

Maximum comfort

ALSTOM, along with BOMBARDIER, is a train builder that also designs interiors for operators. In the showcase on train interiors, which demonstrates just how much importance we place on passenger comfort and safety, ALSTOM is presenting two of its partners.
Seat designer and manufacturer COMPIN, part of the BALLOFFET group, is the leading European railcar-seat company. Through its totally original products, it combines innovation and comfort to ensure maximum passenger safety.
SAIRA, which belongs to the TOSONI industrial group, is a specialist in the development and supply of railcar interiors. It designs innovative solutions suited to all requirements to make the passenger really "feel at home."

User-friendly trains

Offering improved levels of comfort and service also involves meeting requirements for fluidity and safety as passengers move between the cars of a train. To design user-friendly trains, ALSTOM works with the best specialists.
For the gangway systems in the new generation of double-deck regional express trains, the TER 2N NG, ALSTOM has chosen HÜBNER, the leading gangway system company. ALSTOM and HUBNER together developed the gangway system for the TER 2N NG trains.

Brake systems

SAB WACO, a specialist in train brake systems, has been working on ALSTOM projects for a long time.

Train braking uses many systems for stopping or controlling speed. Braking must be effective, automatic, reliable and permanently available, even in adverse conditions. The brake systems used on most trains were invented by G. Westinghouse, who was one of the founders of the SAB WACO group in 1870. Although braking has considerably improved with modern technology, its principle remains the same: a safety control operating power devices pneumatically (wheel-mounted brake pads or brake discs).

Testing before using

To test their equipment and systems at full scale before delivering rolling stock ready to be put into service, ALSTOM and BOMBARDIER have together set up a Rail Test Center, which they have run jointly since 2000 with the French Rail Certification Agency and regional research laboratories.
In line with European standards, the test center's multifunctional facilities contribute to the certification of all the elements of railway systems and material. The center thus allows the validation in real operating situations of the dynamic performance of rolling stock (tramways, metros, trains and locomotives), signaling systems and mechanical components of the track and its environment.

All these partners are presented jointly with BOMBARDIER.
