The modernized locomotive, type 203 - a strong partner

Cross boundary possibilities The rental locomotive of the ALSTOM Lokomotiven Service GmbH in Stendal (Saxony-Anhalt) can be used across the national boundary of Germany and the Netherlands. For the time being, it will be used as a rental vehicle operating in the Netherlands. To meet these requirements, the locomotive was mounted with a second train controlling system and now in conforms to German and Dutch standards. The BR 203 is equipped with a INDUSI I 60 R (German standard) as well as with its Dutch counterpart, the ATB, first and second generation. By fitting the locomotive with a GSM-R (Global System Mobile - Rail) train radio installation the first step to a cross-boundary communication system meeting different countries' standards, is made.

State of the art The engine power has been raised to 1380 kW. With a speed of 100 km/h and a traction power of 206 kN the locomotive now equals the standards of a modern locomotive used for freight carriage. The running gear is a completely new design which improves the ride quality and reduces wear. The purchase of this locomotive, with a service package is offered in order to minimize failures and to ensure usual maintenance.
